‘On life and intimacy’ solo exhibition

Opening reception on Friday 21st!
For his first solo exhibition, Guillem Ayora resides at Studio Gross’s Japanese-style house for two weeks and spends the time taking a close look at the space and the changes that it holds from day-to-day. He allows himself to connect with “home”, laying back and letting the house speak by itself. As a result, the photographs show his submersion in this new space and how someone else’s intimacy becomes his own.

Guillem Ayoraは彼にとって初の個展を開催するにあたり、Studio Grossの日本様式の家に2週間滞在し、日々移り変る様相を丹念に見つめていきます。
彼自身が「家」の一部となり、横たわり、家が語りだすのを待ちます。
個展では、彼がこの空間と一体となり、そしてこの空間と他の誰かとの接点を彼自身のものにしていく様相を写真に捉えます。

Chloe Paré & Theodor Maier
Obaachan no kami

In the exhibition Obaachan no kami, at Studio GROSS, Chloe Paré and Theodor Maier present their collaborative artists’ book Gravestone. The book refers to gravestones in the stores alongside the borders of Tokyo’s cemeteries. Those unassigned and blank cenotaphs, with simple and clear geometric outlines, resemble minimalist sculptures. Gravestone is light and transportable, an anti-monument that underlines constant transition and the noise of the empty page.
Gravestone will also be presented at Cincinnati Art Book Fair August 21-22
Chloe Paré (b.1996, Athens, Greece) is a visual artist based in Tokyo, Japan.
In her praxis, she is experimenting on how interactivity integrates into contemporary sculpture through the materiality and ephemerality of paper. Currently, she is a Research Student at Tokyo University of the Arts under the Japanese Government Scholarship. Paré has studied sculpture in the Athens School of Fine Arts, Greece and Weissensee Kunsthochschule Berlin, Germany. She has realized numerous artistic workshops and solo installations and has presented her work in group exhibitions in Greece, Germany and Japan.
Theodor Maier (b. 1989 in Schwaz, Austria) studied Comparative Literature at the University of Vienna and Maynooth University, Ireland, and Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Tokyo University of the Arts. In various media, his work is concerned with language and translation.

スタジオグロスで開催される展覧会「おばあちゃんのかみ」では、クロエ・パレとテオドール・マイヤーが共同で制作したアーティストブック「墓石」を展示します。この本は、東京の墓地の境界線上にある店舗の墓石を参照しています。シンプルで明確な幾何学的アウトラインを持つ、指定されていない空白の慰霊碑は、ミニマリストの彫刻のようです。「墓石」は軽くて持ち運び可能であり、絶え間ない移行と空のページのノイズを強調するアンチモニュメントです。
クロエ・パレ（1996年、ギリシャ・アテネ生まれ）は、東京を拠点に活動するビジュアルアーティストで、紙の素材感や儚さを活かしたインタラクティブな表現を現代彫刻に取り入れる試みを行っています。現在、国費留学生として東京藝術大学に在籍しており、ギリシャのアテネ美術学校とドイツのベルリン・ヴァイセンゼー美術学校で彫刻を学びました。数々の芸術的なワークショップやソロ・インスタレーションを実現し、ギリシャ、ドイツ、日本のグループ展で作品を発表してきました。
テオドール・マイヤー（1989 年、オーストリア・シュワルツ生まれ）は、ウィーン大学とアイルランドのメイヌース大学で比較文学を、ウィーン美術アカデミーと東京藝術大学で美術を学びました。様々なメディアで、言語と翻訳をテーマにした作品を発表しています。

2022年11月25日(金)に東京都荒川区東日暮里の「元映画館」にて、野菜と日本酒と落語の会 第2弾 「旅する落語―新潟編」～ ZINE『笑福亭羽光 越後道中記』刊行記念 ～を開催いたします。
千駄木の野菜と日本酒のお店「ちりん」の野菜料理と日本酒とともに落語を楽しむ会の第2弾です。
今回は、ルポルタージュZINE『笑福亭羽光 越後道中記』の刊行を記念して、本書の主人公である笑福亭羽光さん、そして、ともに関川村落語会に出演し、新潟を旅した瀧川鯉津さんのお2人にお噺＆お話いただきます。落語の魅力はもちろん、2人が旅した新潟の魅力も伝える機会にいたします。
料理とお酒も「新潟」をテーマに提供。 会終了後には懇親会を開催し、落語を軸にさまざまなカルチャーや人との出会いを生み出すきっかけにしたいと願っています。
